We set up a tank 2 weeks ago and have put 5 assorted platys and 5 male guppys in it. The guppys are constantly attacking the platys, so they spend the whole time hiding behind a big stone decoration and won't come out. It's upsetting me and my other half won't let me give them away, just says 'tough, let them get on with it.' I don't think it's fair on the poor platys. :( Is it usual for guppys to attack platys? The pet store we bought tem at said they were compatible. If that's compatible, I dread to think what incompatible fish would be like.

Are the platies males or females, as the male guppies will be picking at the males as they wont the females.
Best bet is to rehome the male platys and the male guppies should get along with the female platys.

what size tank? anything smaller than 10G and they will push eachother around for space

Ya...180 litres.... about ~45 USG right? thats really weird. I would have to guess its the sex issue that wilder stated

I don't know if they're male or female. They don't stay out long enough to have a proper look! I wasn't told when I bought them either, they were just 'shovelled' into the bag.

Just over 45 gallons, so it's quite a big tank!
