Adverts in Seriously Fish profiles

The ads in the orange boxes on SF are not the kind based on browsing history - those can be blocked using an ad blocker. The orange boxes are there even with an ad blocker and a tracking cookie blocker. Without an ad blocker, there are a lot of browser based ads in addition to the orange boxes, so many that it is hard to find the text between the ads.
Just to make things clear:

No ad blocker - orange boxes and browser based ads
Using ad blocker - orange boxes only.

Ad blockers block those ads based on our browsing history but they don't block the orange boxes. So no matter what add-ons we use we still see the orange boxes which could mislead some readers to believe that they are inserted by SF itself.

Oh, then no. I don't have an add blocker. It still shows me the orange boxes and the very annoying large adverts while I'm reading.

Are you sure they weren't added by SF? Some of them say "the filter we recommend can be found here." which leads me to believe they are added by SF.

Ohh… Ok. So the "true" Rummy Nose Tetra profile is up to date? Sort of confusing with 3 different variations of rummy nose tetras.

Which is why you should use the scientific name, so there is no misunderstanding of species.

We have no doubt they were added by the SF editors.

"which could mislead some readers to believe that they are inserted by SF itself." That makes it seem that that is not the case. The orange boxes look to be part of the care sheets to me, recommendations as to what may be appropriate for the fish involved.

I think one needs to be cognizant of the exact wording. I am seeing the following in brown (orange?) boxes on SF:

Aquarium filters which have been highly recommended by customers in your area can be found here.

To search for high quality aquarium heaters, click here.

Click on the following links to search for high quality live, frozen and dry food: Artemia, Daphnia.
To find other high quality, highly recommended foods click here.

Now, I realize that in the thinking of most browsers on SF there is probably an implied "recommendation" by SF, but it does not say that. And in advertising, semantics is key. If a manufacturer can get people to assume something, it is half the battle to selling the product. And the wording is not such that SF could legally dispute this. It happens everywhere.

You guys get ads? Never seen one on here before but I am running ad blocker on my phone.

I'm seeing this on some:

"It is advised to find a filter which has a water flow between 4-5 times the volume of your aquarium. At a volume of 540 litres, the filter we recommend can be found here. As this is a large aquarium, you may need more than one of these."

It seems to me at least, that the orange/brown boxes display info that they feel fits with the fish in the article. So for oscars, they have a link to a 300W heater and a large canister filter. For German blue rams, it's only a 100W and a smaller internal filter.

edit* Actually, it seems that the first portion of the brown/orange box is their legitimate recommendation, the second paragraph in the box is just a link to an array of heaters/filters, regardless of size.

Thank you. That is different, and I have managed to find some like it myself; I had wondered if browsing as opposed to logging in made a difference, but it doesn't.

Yes, I see the "we" recommend adds as well.
