May be a totally daft question bit is it okay to do a few at a time? I've purchased a couple but then read of people having a nightmare having added dead coral for decoration and it causing a ph spike?

When in doubt, give 'em a good soak in a bit of tank water for a week and check pH. With snail shells, the main worry is having stuff stuck way back in them that will decay, thereby potentially lowering the pH and adding extra waste. You'd have to have a pretty low pH in a tank for a small bit of aragonite to suddenly create an abnormally high pH.

I just boiled mine for a few minutes, then chucked them in! Ph has been fine
