Adding Carbon Insert To Fluval Filter

Hello I am currently treating my water with maracyn plus and once treatment is completed, I plan on adding a carbon insert temporarily to my fluval power filter to remove any remaining medication in the water. My question is how long do I leave the carbon in the filter? I do not run carbon as I have heard some cons about using it full-time. I current have the foam insert in addition to 2 biomax inserts.

Not only should you add the carbon, but you should add it right after you have done a 50% water change. Between the two you should clear all meds in a day or two.

No- I only use it to remove meds etc. But I also have well water which is fairly soft, so there isn't a lot of stuff I need to remove.
 
I may use is for a few days when setting up a new tank.
