Hey guys do you recon its ok to add anouther maroon clown to a tank that already has one? He's been in there for about 6 months?

from what i know about them, they aren't too aggressive to other maroons... and you'll probably end up with fry. just prepare for that.

i had a cichlid tank once, and everyone told me to expect fry... while i figured they were full of it... i spotted and saved fry from hiding places more times than i care to remember.

i haven't had any marine spawning coincidences yet - partly because i've never kept two of the same fish together - but when i read multiple sources tell me the same thing about a fish, i'm inclined to believe them more now.

Make sure the new one is smaller than the old one to prevent agression issues

How big is your tank? Maroons grow to be very chunky, and can totally dominate a tank. Bullying any thing they take a dislike too.
If you have space for another clown, i agree it should be significantly smaller than the current clown.

I got my 2nd Maroon only a month or 2 after my first. But I did make sure that he was much smaller and mixed with a bunch of other maroons at the LFS since i didn't know if my original one could become a female that young in my tank by herself (no other clowns to fight for heirarchy) in that short of time. :good:
