I’m sold . I have a ten gallon with nothing in it so there’s their home . I am curious about this “there’s something lacking in my water” business . I read an article about these shrimp in TFH and it mentioned a shrimp water additive . It didn’t mention anything about the why of the additive or what it was supposed to do or what was in it but could it have anything to do with minerals needed for when they moult ? They do moult don’t they ? Would aquarium salt suffice or is salt harmful to them ?

Shrimps do moult. Like with fish, some species of shrimp need hard water and others need soft water. The ones that need harder water need calcium to successfully moult and grow a new 'skin'.

I know this is a UK website but they do give information on shrimps as well as selling shrimp food and additives for shrimp tanks. It's worth browsing just to see what they say.

Creepy looking little goomers aren’t they ? But in a weird attractive way . Do they flip their tail backwards and swim or just skitter across the bottom ?
Both, but the former only when they're scared. This one was kind of hunched up. They're usually straighter.
