Acroporia

a pair of jewul T5s wouldnt be enough. you want a minimum of 4 tubes, each with their own reflector. each having their own reflector is very important. makes the unit several times more efficient

i test for nitrate, nitirte, ammonia, calcium, phosphates and ph. its the new test strip kits, my LFS does them for me whenever i need them for free :)

at last test 2 days ago everything was perfect except my calium is a bit high up, mainly due to using purple tech a week before

im gonna see about getting a T5 light unit for the rio this week, but they not cheap :(
either that or i can get a strip of leds to go over that part of the tank for £20 from a friend who isnt using it anymore :)

your going to need a min of 4 tubes each with there own reflectors as ben has said, for £20 i very much doubt the leds are going to help much.

EDIT - sorry, its a Rio 180 so 3foot. has external eheim pro huge canistor filter, a tmc uv steriiser, the internal jewell filter box and 2 coralias, one each end.

I would suggest that you rehome the acro, it is only going to slowly die without proper care.

hmmmm ok

what should i be looking for as signs of it not doinhg well?

and what do you all say is the BEST method of lighting these?

im due to get some more racked tanks this week, 3 of them. all 24 inches front to back, 40 long, and 15 high.
was going to use them as frag grow tanks and have halides above them.

surely this is enough?

£20 is cos its from my mate. it cost over £150 new. he was going to use them on his big reef but went T5 and longer led strips instead

imo halides are the best lighting avilable at the moment.

What leds are they?

before you start a frag system, dont you think you should maybe get used to keeping SPS? they are really demanding. No offence but if you dont know what lighting an acro needs then you are going to struggle with this one.

id agree with nick that halides or really top of the range T5 units are best.
