Absolutely B****y Disgusting...

This is taken from the RSPCA website.

Owners have a legal responsibility to meet their pet's needs - this includes keeping fish apart from other fish that will harm them but may also require housing fish with other fish for companionship. We welcome the fact that many pet shops label the fish they sell according to their compatibility with other fish.

And this

The RSPCA would investigate cases where it is believed a fish's needs are not being met.

Things would never happen if people sat back and did nothing. The reason alot of the welfare acts are in place now are because of people getting off their backsides and doing something about it.

I am not going to argue about the situation, but common sence would tell you that nearly all of the shop would have to be filled with fish in bad conditions for the rspca to take it seriously

good night!!

yea, i wont be able to go to school 2moz if i dont get to sleep before about 10-30. i have to finish early on the comp coz it sends my mind racing lol

what are they going to do??

call the fish police???- it wont happen!

If you consider that humour, dont give up the day job.

The RSPCA, Trading Standards and Local councils all have an interest in Pet shop licensing.

It can and does happen! And if more people bothered reporting things more actions would be taken.

But I guess you just prefer to believe your statements, as its less work for you to do?

stop being such an ####, you have not got a clue what your on about.

OP ~ call your local environmental dept at the council, ask for pet licensing and they will take it further. THEY WILL investigate trust me on that and THEY WILL bring in the RSPCA if needed. Its the license board you need to approach first as the RSPCA will ony go to them and then wait for a cal if they are needed.

rspca wond do anything. they are only fish for gods sake calm down its not the end of the world, just dont shop there again, if it was the day of their delivery the damage to fins could be from stress during transport, so is it really their fault for treating it- what else can they do??

I believe the RSPCA used to act on a regular basis on one shop where I used to live. It was eventually shut down.
I would like to know what sort of animal might be considered worthy of better care and why?

@ OP If you want to contact the RSPCA then call them then at least you have done your bit and it is up to them as to whether to take further action or not..

Good luck ;)

Well I believe this says it all.

OP - I would certainly report it - if enough people complain about this shop they will have to act. Your report might just be the one that sends the RSPCA in.
I would certainly tell the manager if I thought there were major problems with fish in the store. one or two dead fish is par for the course, but almost every tank is pretty unacceptable. And I ALWAYS tell the manager if they are keeping bettas incorrectly - I can't help myself. You did the best thing by not rescueing, you are strong. I haven't been able to help myself on occasion.... if they have puppy dog eyes i am a goner!

oh my the crazy seems to be out in full force everywhere I go today.
