Abrid Retaining Water

Abrid has been gradually getting plumper the past few days... at first I thought he was just constipated, but it's not just his tummy anymore, even his face is plumper! His scales are a little pineconed, but I don't think it's dropsy in the sense we all know it since he has been alive like that the past 2 days and doesn't look nearly as miserable as a fish with dropsy usually does.... My guess is kidney failure or something. I don't have much hope for him really, but was wondering if any of you have any suggestions?

It may not be dropsy but it may still be an internal bacteria making him swell up. I would put him on some antibiotic food and see if it helps… assuming that he’s still eating.

He's not eating today (though he did yesterday,) and looks as though he is having difficulty breathing. I added some Maracyn to his water, so maybe that will help some...

Very sorry for your loss. I recently had the same thing happen (swollen, difficulty breathing) and it happened so suddenly I was shocked. RIP to your beloved fish.
