I have cabomba growing in several locations in my tank. I was looking closely at it just a moment ago and admiring how well it's done since it grew to the top and started spreading along. I noticed half a dozen fry swimming around the top!! Now, I have mollies who have spawned before but their fry seemed to hang around the mid/bottom plants. These new little guys aren't leaving the safety of the cabomba at the top and when they do move, it's always along the top side to the safety of another plant up there. I was reading about my dwarf gourami and the spawning of them sounds exactly what these fry are doing in the cabomba at the top but I only purchased the gourami a week ago and I haven't noticed any bubble nests or the male defending. Could these be gourami or is it more likely they're just more molly fry?

ETA: they're translucent and appear to be about 5/16's of an inch long.

Just separate them into their own tank and feed them of course and wait and see what they become.

more than like mollie. gouramis make bubble nest and the eggs take a few days to hatch. if you have only one gourami they couldnt have breed.....if they are mollies they should be darker though....what color are your mollies exactly? if you want i would just leave them as it is and do whats called survival of the fittest. by the sounds of it your tank is heavily planted or at least has plenty of hiding places.
