I noticed over last few days my molly had a very fine thread-like poo. Whiteish in colour. He's also doing normal looking poo's. Is this normal? I haven't noticed it from my other fish. Thanks guys!

I wouldn't worry too much yet; it's quite common for fish to do 'weird' poos. However, it could be a symptom of internal parasites or a bacterial infection, so keep a close eye on the fish for the next few days, maybe do some extra water changes to make sure your water is in tip top condition :good:

Sorry, made a mistake. It's my platy who has the strange poo but yesterday I noticed another with it too. My water readings are fine. Do you think I should treat them for parasites or an infection just in case? If so how do I treat them without harming the other fish? I don't have a hospital tank as I plan on using my current one for that purpose when I upgrade. Thanks guys.

I wouldn't treat fish with meds if you're not sure what's wrong. Try fasting them for two o rthree days and then feeding with some lightly cooked, shelled peas and see how they are then.

I'll try that Fluttermoth, thanks. I know this is probably a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. Does it matter that the peas are cooked in regular water ie not dechlorinated?

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask ;) Regular water is fine; boiling drives of chlorine anyway. Don't add any salt! Chop or crush the peas into small pieces once you've shelled them.

I use that phrase EVERY day, Fluttermoth! A little frustrating at times, but very, very true!
