Today one of my Dp's died because it refused to eat any of the blood worms or frozen brine shrimp I was feeding them. It was so skinny. I have one other one who won't eat iether. It is just siting there motion less. What should I do?

are you only feeding frozen foods? i know my dp's always preferred live, moving foods.................. what all have you been feeding them?

If fish are refusing to eat then often live foods are the only way to go, try feeding some live blackworms, bloodworms or daphnia to get your DP feeding.

how long have you had him? Have you fed him snails or anything? Did he actually look interested in the food but just couldn't eat it? Are their beaks or teeth or wutever too long for them to get anyfood past them?

I have only Frozen foods, where I live it is very hard to get live foods. Are there any other alternatives to getting live foods other then from pet stores? My Dp's are still very yung, only about half the size of a neon. -_-

from what I've hered Dp's do not need snails to shorten thier beeks. :dunno: His mouth seems perfectly capeable of eating what the others eat.

I haven't heard that :dunno: , i throw snails and ghost shrimp in my tank all the time for them to gnaw on for a while. I would do a bit more research to see if they really need it. Let us know (I would look it up but I believe it to be true and will continue feeding mine snails). Good luck

was he skinny before he stopped eating, or has he only got skinny since refusing to eat?

if he was skinny before, it may be that he has internal parasites which were taking all the food from him which is why he got skinny even though he was eating. After a while I guess not getting enough nourishment he will be so weak and ill that he wont bother trying to eat anymore...

is he listless? acting strangely? ignoring the food completely?

The food needs to move, live or not. try putting the food on an airstone or in the current from the filter to make it move.

Wether or not they actually need snails, it's still a favourite food of all puffers (except congos) so try getting some from your lfs (usually free!)

Small is better, but if you can only get larger ones, don't worry, the puffers can just suck 'em right out of the shell!

Geuss what!? I got snails today and the only one who wouldn't eat was the skinny one -_- . Well I have a few snails left so I hope he will eat them. :p
