As the title says really.

I'd like a plec for a 120litre tank, looking for something that will have no interest in eating fry, and is reasonably easy to get hold of.

I'm considering an L134 but am worried he'll eat the fry.

The Ph is neutral btw!

Tank mates are Shell dwelling cicids, Julidochromis, and African Butterfly fish.

Thanks in advance.

what fry are you refering to?

Plecs wont eat live fry, unless they endup under its mouth...

Multi fry. They're small, and the parents will probably be defensive, and they can swim by themselves, but it is something I worry about a lot!

they should be fine - a 134 is an ideal choice - our lfs has some in at the moment (in mk)

Do they ever breed in captivity do you know.

I'm guessing if anyone knows you will haha ;)

*rubs hands together*

Great stuff!

I'll check L134 then.

I saw a plec the other week called "spotted inspector" or something similar, and they looked really cool, are they suitable?

not heard of them before... and species details or an L number??

Sadly not.

They had a very odd swimming style I thought for a plec which was a short swim followed by a stop motion. Yu'd know it if you saw it, a whole tank of the things looked pretty odd.

I think they were black with small white polka dots, bigger than pinhead size. The overall fish size was small as well.

Think I know the ones - one sec....

yep :) - Hypancistrus inspector

all the smaller plecs (Hypancistrus species at least) swim like that - our L129, and 236's all do the same - short bursts - quite skitty :)

Spot on! (no pun intended)

They look great huh :hey: Know anything about them that PC cant tell me?

I love L134s! I hope we can get hold of one fella!

If your looking for a more confident plec - get the 134.
Hypancistrus's are a lot more active at night and prefer to hide during the day
The 134s are still more active at night - but you will see more of them during the day than you will the hyps

Missus - as in Mrs Fella ??
if so - tell him to drop me a line next time he's in MK and I'll sort him out with one ;)
