I have a 90l tank that is matured and over-filtered, with more and more plants establishing weekly.

In it I have;
1 Fighter
2 BN Plecs
3 Black Neon Tetra
13 Cardinal Tetra
1 Green Neon Tetra (he thinks he's a Cardinal though...)

I'm thinking about adding another fish to my setup, and fancy something a little larger and a single fish that's a bit of a feature.

What do people think would be a nice addition that shouldn't cause too much hassle with whats in there now?

Cheers,
Craig

a blue ram wouldnt be the best addition...it wouldnt do very well in a tank with the above occupants unless its kept at 28-32 degrees oC

It is a Betta, I know they limit tank mates, but he really seems quite a placid little fella. He's never had any issues with anything, even when he was in a tank full of fancy guppies.

I looked at the Blue Ram and I think I'd struggle with water conditions. I have ph7.4 and I'm in hard water area.

Oh, my water is at 26C

Trying to think of fish that work well on their own but wont clash with a betta - most gourami could fight with the betta and the same goes for dwarf cichlids. Though maybe some kind of dwarf acara could work? There are a few that stay under 4 or 3 inch.

I quite agree with above that livebearers could work well, but usually you need more than one? Like a trio 1 male 2 female. Or somthing I was thinking that could work well for you would be a trio of sparkling gourami?

I have no problem adding a couple or trio of fish if they work well like that. I just wanted to keep away from another shoaling fish like the tetra. I also wanted to make sure I didn't overstock and cause my happy tank any undue stress.

I think it would be at maximum stocking with what you have now as soon as the plecs reach their full length of about 4 inches each.
