A place 4 my questions & ponderings as I build a 34 Gallons (127L) tank

Could you tie a rock to the root to help it sink?

I could but we've a bet going on when it'll sink  I might just concede and do that though. I said a week Mr said less than a week.

I think it's well planted now & bit of settle in will see everything come together. I absolutely love the Vallisneria Nana & kinda wish I'd ordered the taller one now.

So close...

Might end up a jungle tank once it grows out  but I love the heavily planted tanks of @mbsqw1d @AdoraBelle Dearheart and @seangee. Be nice to see this grow.
Its difficult to be patient but it really only takes about a month for good growth. I had a few camping trips through the summer and coming back after a week I could see a noticeable difference compared to staring at it day after day.

You could always give it a boost with some co2.
No need for a high tech high pressure setup.

If you get a small drinks bottle, upside down in the tank and fill it with co2, it will naturally dissolve into the water over time.

You can make the co2 by mixing yeast sugar and water in an empty coke bottle and attach an airline through a hole in the lid.

(You'd remove the airline to the small upside down drink bottle once its topped up with co2 from your yeast+sugar+water concoction bottle.)

I was wondering if any body had done that on this site and now I know, and by the way It works!

Ive been doing bicarb soda+citric acid through a diffuser with a solenoid for switching overnight but think I'm going to switch to this 'co2 chamber' method. There are better looking chambers than an upside drinks bottle..

There have definitely been members who have done diy yeast Co2.

Am trying to remember who did a half decent thread about this method of Co2, DaizeUK might be one, been a few years but think she did this so you could lookup her threads and see if you can find them, Juwel Lido tank.
(my memory is not the best you see! )

Been a while since I’ve read about this method but certainly worth looking up and researching into.

I was first introduced to it on here by Supercoley1 about 12 years ago

But I've since found the citric acid+bicarb method to be much better

I found yeast to hit and miss and altered to much on room temperature.

Yeh definitely, for using it to create a constant supply, but for topping up a chamber its fine and why i recommended to AilyNC as she may have ingredients to hand
