A place 4 my questions & ponderings as I build a 34 Gallons (127L) tank

Making my way through @ClownLurch's huge list of hard water fish & adding tank/water/behaviour info:

Endlers
  • Temp 24-30
  • Ph 7.0-8.5
  • Hardness 268-626ppm
  • Tank size 18" x 12" x 12"
  • Good with other small peaceful fish. Not guppy opp. gender

Fintail blue eyed rainbow fish
  • Temp 24-28
  • Ph 7.0-8.0
  • Hardness 258ppm-536ppm
  • Tank size 24" x 12"
  • fishes of comparable size, disposition, and requirements with many cyprinids, gobiids, eleotrids, and smaller melanotaeniids suitable.

L129 Pleco
  • Temp 26-30
  • Ph 6.6-7.5
  • Hardness 286.4ppm
  • Tank size 24" x 12" x 12"

  • Ph 7.2-8.2
  • GH 160-300ppm KH 120-400ppm

  • Ph 6.5-7.5
  • Hardness 26-215ppm
  • Tank size 31" x 12"
  • Good with other small peaceful fish. Good match with Forktail.

Celestial Pearl Danio
  • Temp 20-26
  • Ph 6.5-7.5.
  • Hardness 90-268ppm

  • Tank size 30" x 12"

I got the call! The tank & lid will arrive tomorrow. So I dropped €70 on plants & aquascaping stuff. My light arrived today.

ClassicLED Aquarium Light, Fish Tank Light with Blue and White LEDs, 18W.

I just need to go pick up some ammonium in the pharmacy and I'm ready to set it up  so exciting.

Yaaay!!! :yahoo:

Don’t know about you but I personally love getting new stuff and doing a bit of retail therapy on tank equipment and plants etc ^_^
I get waves of "omg this is adding up!" but I'm so excited. I put so much more thought into this tank and I really can't wait to add in sand & arrange the plants. Oh I must wash the sand actually! But getting all the pieces over a few deliveries has been building up the anticipation too. I am ridiculously excited!

Definitely not a cheap hobby when you add up everything.

When I do this, I have my eyes wide shut and kinda squint my eyes and look sideways at the total to make it seem less than what I’ve spent actually is

I don't feel bad about this spend as it's my anniversary present :) the Bonsai is 15cm x 20cm x 12cm and I'll use Christmas moss

The tank arrived! I was so excited opened up the packaging and quickly realised I got the measurements wrong. I thought it was 36" length x 12" height x 18" width (90cm x 30cm x 45.7cm). It is in fact 36" length x 18" height x 12" width. I had a panic. I had a little cry. The space is very tight but thankfully Peter is more calm than I am. He removed a plinth from cabinet above to make of fit. I can keep it positioned so there's enough space to get at the tank. Though I will need a stool. Until we've somewhere else it'll do in the this space & I'll move my 58L/16G over beside it. Which is 24" length x 13.5" height x 12" width (60cm x 35cm x 30cm). All my research into the right height filter. It was really upsetting. But it is a lovely shape tank.

Here's my custom built lid. Very secure runners in the side. Support shelf in centre. Smooth edges!

A better space for the fish though! The 'floor plan' area size is better than the height for most fish

Ah but it's actually less floor plan than planned. I though 36 long x 18 wide and it's actually 36 long x 12 wide :(

I'm really surprised at how clean the sand is! I did wash in but just quickly. Everything is on and I've set the Eheim Aquaballs on each end to agitate the water surface. One has nozzle & other has the spray bar.
