These guys are half the size of the Vanmanenia species, and masters of camouflage, and can change color very quickly, so they are difficult to photograph… last night I saw one on a bamboo stalk, and it was a tan camouflage, and after much searching, I saw one on the black hob filter, and it was black… I got 3 of them, that are about 2 inches long..

It’s interesting, that with about a dozen varieties, and with fish that range in size from 1 inch, to 6 inches, ( in the loach family the Tin Foils definitely are a much bigger heavier fish ) that there is no territorial squabbling I have witnessed a little pushing and shoving, around a choice algae spot, between the loaches, but nothing that exists beyond the moment… this is my 2nd lizard variety, the other Hillstream’s are all the “flying saucer” shape… the Tin Foil barbs in the tank, don’t look at them as food, so they have been the perfect tank mates ( in fact, when the Panda Garra’s were babies, at a 1/2 inch, they would swim up and take food out of the 8 to 9 inch Tin Foil’s mouthes ) Pandas are now 2.5 to 3 inches… they grow fast… I’m just wishing I had started this particular tank set up, with at least a 100 gallon tank, instead of a 55 gallon… there are just so many interesting species of these loaches
