Hello!

I've enjoyed reading the posts here today; everyone is so friendly. I know this will be a great place to learn more about my favorite hobby.

I have a 55 gal. tank with 13 goldfish, 2 frogs, 2 weatherfish and 4 snails. Also, a 20 gal. community tank and 5 10 gal. tanks with assorted guppies, frogs and several different kinds of corydoras. Well, it keeps me busy!

Lately, I've been trying to breed the corydoras and gouramies and have had a bit of luck, but not as much as I would like. While looking for answers I came across this site.

"Splash" I've just jumped in the pond!

Hello Rosierabbit,

I'm happy to meet you. Can't believe someone replied so soon!

Rosierabbit,

I'm glad you asked about the frogs; they're my little pets.

I have 5 African Clawed Frogs and 2 Dwarf African Clawed Frogs. These frogs live their entire lives under water.

The dwarf frogs live happily in a one gallon jar that I got from the deli. It has a little gravel on the bottom and two rocks with a flat one across them for them to hide under. I also have a few little spriggy plants and a couple of tiny snails in there.

The larger frogs live with the goldfish, so you know that they get along well without too much fussing. They eat pellets, blackworms, feeder guppies--they will pretty much eat whatever they can get into their mouths! Sometimes I feed them pieces of cooked shrimp or slivers of raw steak, but I have to watch that the goldfish don't eat it all first.

You would like them--they are really fun and not expensive. You can read more about them at http://clawedfrogs.tripod.com/

Oh, and I read somewhere that one of these little frogs was the first animal to be successfully cloned!

how interesting! that is so cooool! i am going to read up on that... i have seen frogs that they sell that live totally underwater... WOW!
