A Large Odd Ball To Go With Community Fish.

the uaru you probably looked at were uaru.a if your budget is higher a lot higher

you may want to look at uaru.f they are very rare but are now being captive bred so prices are coming down

i had a big shoal of 14 when they were costing £125 each they are the best looking cichlid around in my eyes

I think they are out my price range hahaha. You know how they stick together and kind of shoal, would Geo's do this? I have just put my name on 3 'Geophagus' iporangensis‏ but tempted to get 6... or would they fight.

The Geo's are super cheap off someone i know breading them. They are only 2-3" at the moment but 3 for £5 you cannot go wrong!! just colouring up nicely.

T1 Where does the money come from haha ???????????????????????????????????

the uaru.a are still very nice and cheap they will shoal the same as the more expencive uaru.f

geos dont shoal

Ah ok, cool. I'll stick to just the 3, i know the 6 would fit in such a large tank, but i would prefer to leave the 3. I have not herd of the uara, so would struggle to find them i believe. Thanks.

There are 2 species of Uaru.
I forget the names off hand.
I just paid £10 each for 5cm fish of the common variety

They do prefer Discus (soft warm water) conditions.

the cheaper uaru are uaru.ampxxxxxxxx which is why i call them uaru.a the more expencive are uaru.fenadayapizi which is why i call them uaru.f

the cheaper ones are very nice when big with a glowing eye

they both look the same when small spotty

they are hardy i would recomend them and they are easy to breed

they can be got for as little as £6 each but do better in groups of 6 or more

scientific abbreviations should the opposit for future reference Uaru ampxxxxxx? would be U. ampxxxxxx and the uaru fenadayapizi would be U. fenadayapizi. Genus, (family) then speices :)

I have settles for 3 Geophagus, as they where local, and super cheap, also a bonny fish :) I have never herd of Uaru until this post, never mind in any pet stores near me :)

Thanks for the help, and I'll keep yous posted.

I have kept large severums with small fish and had no problems. Also the 3 spot demon geo cichlid. drsgon goby are non predatory and will get good size, However, they need brackish conditions to thrive.
