Well my walmart is very betta friendly. Every on ethinks that all walmarts are soooo bad, but they arent. My walmart has a seprate tank for female bettas. All swimming feely etc. They never have dead bettas in there. If the betta has a fin that is rippedor they are sick they take them out, treat them for whatever they have, and dont sell them. They have larger containers then most have, like some are 1/2 gallon and some are a bit smaller. The males get dayly water changes, and they get feed.
They also sell all diffrent kind sof bettas, not just veil tails. They sell crowntails, and I saw some Plakat's there the other day. Sadly they were sick and being treated for something so they werent for sale. Also now that they are doinmg renivations they only had like 2 bettas at the store. I really hope that they get more in though, becaus they are one of the best places around to get them.
The only fish they really dont know about is goldfish, but thats another story on another forum section.

That's crazy! All the stinkin wal-marts around here only stock veiltails... Let's have your wal-mart talk to my wal-mart ;) Just kidding. Crazy though, I did find a pure melano veiltail, which I'd never seen one before, at a local wal-mart. I didn't get him though :( He had popeye and finrot and was looking horribly ill :-( Wish I could've saved him :(

wow i think your very lucky to have a wal-mart that that around you. Plakats at a walmart  .all i have at my wal-mart are veiltails and half of them are sick

yup, theyhave them. Im sure they have other kinds as well, but I havent seen or gotten any yet.

My walmart is the trashiest place for fish I've ever seen. You could tell the tanks have bearly been cleaned, there were about 2 dead fish per tank, they had 3 bettas, and they were in cups of course, on random parts of shelves. I asked the guy if they ever carry Dwarf Puffers, "you know the mini freshwater puffers?" he replied, "Puffers are only saltwater."

hello all
i am newish to the forum and i work at the lwm and i am the dept. manager there.. i am learning from this forum about all the fish i can.. betta's are my best sellers and well, if you have a suggestion please feel free.
as for those other wm go you can help them do a better job if you go and talk to the dept. manager if the truely like what they do and most in that dept. do they just don't know where to start..
as for my betta's the males are in cups but the new bigger sized ones and as for my females they stay in the cups too but i don't order but like 6 at a time.. i don't have another tank open to put them in.. but then i also write the date i get them in on top of the cups so i know how long i have had them i also don't sell sick ones i treat them and i have a sick tank.. also i feed and clean daily.i also have several handouts that i send home with new parents of my betta's so they know what to do for them...
