Was there any signs of worms or internal parasites on the body? If so, you should treat the tank and the remaining fish with meds.

Other than that, I think he died from stress, once they stop eating it is pretty much over.

to be honest by the time i found out he was dead (back from work) the dwarf frogs had had their wicked way with him. but i did check what was left. to behonest i think he either developped a problem with his mouth or damaged it fighting (he did love a scrap) towards the end he seemed to have a thick lip.
