I suppose what I should have said was that I wouldn't use coral sand.

Problems with crushed coral:

Can trap detritus more than aragonite

The particle size is too large and the edges are too sharp

Finer particle size substrate will provide a far greater surface area for colonization by beneficial bacteria

You may be right, I can't remember - but she is a bit of bargain hunter so she probably decided on the sand she wanted then googled it to find the best price
