A Few Questions And Looking For Advice

fluttermoth's suggestion regarding a hot water bottle would be a good one as a temporary fix for the heater, specifically for the night. A thermometer is going to be a must for now though. You'll need to know how your temp changes throughout the day with this plan.

Yeah. I already to have a thermometer attached to the side. The light isn't to obnoxious for me to live with going all the time since it's a very soft light, but I read around that it is best to give them a day night cycle. So I want to be able to do that for them as soon as possible.

Light during the day and hot water bottle at night would be the best way to do that. The water cooling down a bit at night shouldn't be a big deal, but its not optimum. Just check it as soon as you can in the morning to see how big the swing is at night.

My roommate wakes up before me. I'll have her check it when she gets up as well, and ask her to turn on the light when she gets up. I'll be sure to tell her that if the water is to cold to put the hot water bottle in it as well.
