1. How do i know if stress lines are permanent?
2. If they are not could it be due to moving homes?
3. How can i get rid of stress lines, or make her more comfortable?
4. How do you know when your female is "well conditioned and full of eggs"?

Stress lines generally disappear once they've settled, this varies from fish to fish, some almost straight away, I've had 1 take over a month.

Very rarely are the stress stripes permanent

A well conditioned female will be somewhat swollen looking because she has all those eggs she is carrying and she will show the zigzag lines when she catches sight of a male. In that condition, I am ready to allow the fish to reach each other by removing the chimney that has separated them. After a minimal amount of light sparring, the fish should get right down to mating. Please do not try to mate a juvenile male with a fully mature female, or vice versa. Fish learn from their experiences and their maturity seems to affect the mating success. Having both fish fully mature seems to help a lot in this.

okay thanks guys, don't worry i am not planning on breeding, just interested
