A Few Pictures Of My Fish :)

It has a "real photo processor" and a "7.1mp CCD sensor"

Settings i use varies depending on the fish. For example on the BN picture, i used Aperture priority (f/3.5 with macro on) and a -2 exposure bias. On the C.Borleyi picture i used shutter priority and it was set to 1/125sec because it is a fast fish. Because i didnt have enough lighting over the tank i had to use flash, but i used a paper diffuser to spread to diffuse (spread) the light out.

You can look at the settings i use by clicking on the pictures, then on the right hand side it will say "taken with a fuji S5700" then below that it will say more properties if you click on that it will take you to this page

Yes I think thats the same as mine but mine has 9. something CCD sensor. Thats quite interesting, I tend to use the aperture priority mode with macro (is the -2 exposure bias automatic or manual setting) I have noticed with shutter priority you need to use the flash. Where do put the paper diffuser?? Another thing, does the S5700 have a manual focus, on ap mode with macro I seem to need the manual focus, automatic does not seem to cut it, I also use a mini tripod on a table, some shots I seem to use moms Kodak for, it has better automatic modes than mine, the manual modes are a bit of a learning curve for me still at the moment. Cheers for the link, will have a good look there!!
exposure bias is manual setting - i have a little +/- button which allows me to access it.
paper diffuser goes over the flash, you can hold it on or as i did print one off but pictures will show what i mean/ positioning.

Aperture priority has manual focus - automatic is good on mine (as you can see from pictures)

Yep found it, had wondered what that did!

Thats quite ingenious, I will be trying that one.

May try the automatic again with what you have suggested. I just seemed to be able to get better pictures with the manual focus ring. Having said that, I may not have been using the tripod when I tried Automatic.
On your AF switch do you have C, S or MF, if so which automatic setting do you use, C or S (C is centre, can't remember what S is)

Cheers

On AF I have Centre (focuses on centre), Multi (Focuses on more than 1 area) and area (you set the little box to wherever you like on the screen)

GREAT TANKS! :good: :hooray:

I'm starting a tank and am wondering what to put in it, so can you list the fish in both tanks? :fish:

I decided to try a slightly different approach to my photography this time, especially seeing as the fish are going back to MA tommorrow :( Although not many pictures turned out well. These were the best out of 100+ lol

feeding time

P.Crabbro, i burnt the background out to give the effect you see

C.Borleyi

Thanks for looking, Aaron

Curse you and your superior camera/photography skills! Your tanks look great...

great photos, and lovely looking tank and fish! :good:

what sex is your Bn? mine is pretty much identical and not sure if its male or female

How did you get the burn background effect on the photo with the creamy looking fish?, its superb

I didn't know you get bristlenoses that colour/ with the dots. I thought you could only get albino and normal?

Well it was only young, but from the early signs t looked to be Male. Males develop bristles at the gills, and longer bristles on the nose, (correct me if i'm wrong)

The burnt out background is simple to do, i use GIMP but any image processing software should be able to do it. Selct the Burn/ Dodge tool, set to Burn, then simply burn the areas you want. It takes a bit of time to go around the fish, but it is worth it in the end. I think i had one burn layer over the fish too.

John, i'm not to sure when i first bought him he was black, and a few days latr the spots started to appear.

Thanks, Aaron

What fish is that in the last picture. It looks like a female apistogramma, but I am more than likely wrong.
