A Few Pics Of My Tank, Fish And Stocking List

thanks for you views above and the info! and as for flow there is a lot as my fluval u4 pushes the water wright around the tank i see the Mollies swim in front of it and they fly to the other side of the tank! so flow is not a problem but oxygen mite be but I'm planning on putting real plants in there so that should help and maybe an air stone to help out as well

on another note

i think one of my Mollies is carrying fry as she is a bit fatter then the black females and the bigger male out of the to seems to stay close to her and has his dorsal fin up most of the time? does this mean they are spawning?

Thats still not really going to be enough for them to thrive.

I suggest you read this info http://www.loaches.com/articles/hillstream...n-the-fast-lane

i went to the fish shop to day on my lunch break and spent about 5 mins watching the hill streams in a small tank with about 12 in there the water temp was 27*c and they seemed happy and quite lively? so i think ill get a pair and see how they get on if they look like they are suffering ill have to set a small river tank up just for them!

On another note I'm having 2nd thoughts on the rainbow's as they have a pair in my lfs that have had fry and have killed the other rainbow in the tank with them!! and i want a big shoal of neon tetras ( and maybe a few ottos ) in my tank but as i wanted the rainbows i couldn't because the size they are fully grown and mite eat them so i think ill replace they rainbows with 12 neon's is that to much? its just they sale them in 6 so i was going to get 6 and then another 6 the next week?

let me no what your thoughts are on this please plus anything els you would like to add

Thanks for reading

Paul.

Probably best to ask about them in the loaches section of the forums, observing them in the shop is not really enough to be sure. Most fish generally dont stay in the shop long enough to exibit stress/sickness. I made the same mistake years back with a couple, thinking that the outflow from my internal filter would be enough flow (internal filters tend to clog and quick) and if I dropped the temp a few degrees everything would be just fine. But it wasnt, the fish did stay near the flow but just looking at their underside I could easily see that they were highly stressed by the rate they breathed, they wouldnt come down for food and after a maybe 2 weeks both were dead.

added 6 neon tetras at over a quid each!! lol and my dad had one loanly neon in his tank so i saved him and now hes shoaling nicely with the rest of them. I will be getting 6 more next week I can try and get a pic if wanted :good:

yep put in a bucket with 4 kettles of hot water in then changd the water 3 times over 48 hours! :p

good good.

i boiled my drift wood for 2 hours and soaked it for 2 weeks so it would stop leaking tannins. but if 2 days was all you needed for yours, good on you ;)

looks great! post more pics

Hi Paul, I love the look of your tank, the natural, minimalist look really works :good: What lights are you using? they look great.

The molly fry are very cute, I have a soft spot for black mollies, our LFS has some black lyre tails & they are stunning.

Dont worry about the tannins from the wood, I soaked mine for 2wks & still got some, activated carbon in the filter helps to clear the water, but I found within a couple of weeks it stopped.

Have fun & keep up with the piccies
