so other than fish, I also keep carnivorous plants as a hobby. Was playing around and decided to combine the 2. Not having any other fish handy that were suitable for a 4 gallon space, I scooped a few guppies out of the turtle tank (I don't really know how they got there.. I don't use feeders) that have an active breeding community going. originally I was thinking of using a betta, but the only small filter I have creates way more current than one would like.

I hadn't really paid the guppies any attention, but those little guys are pretty. sorry for the picture quality, my camera really doesn't care for close ups.

heres a whole tank shot. I just threw all this together, it will grow in, and I will figure out something to do about the front.

Really nice mate. I used to keep carniverous plants myself. That takes me back................................. :good:

I remember having a huge Venus flytrap plant for years, until my parents killed it :(

That's a really cool tank, great idea :hyper:.
Those are the best guppies I've seen in ages, they look actually relatively natural and don't have the silly (IMO) large tails the only ones available to me have.

I love carnivorous plants too, I'm currently trying to grow Sarracenia minor from a (bad) kit that came with seeds, though not having much luck  . Love your set up :good:.

Thought about putting some carnivorous aquatic plants in there?

I have thought about adding bladderwort or the like, but the tank in there isn't really set up for plants. I've decided that I like this set up, but I'm not happy the seal around the tank is leaking and I'm sure long term theres going to be a mess between the 2 tanks.

I think my next project is to build a tank where the entire front can be 'water' with a deep section in the middle. Even 2" wide should be enough for a small fish as long as I get decent flow in there.

those guppies really are a mystery to me. Back when I had my knife and giant gourami's, I assume I had (most likley 1) come home with some feeders. a couple years later there was quite a school of them, but none that looked like that (just the usual boring brown/grey guppies).

When that tank was torn down, I used some of the gravel and such for the turtle tank, but didn't think I had transfered any fish. Sure enough, a few months later... theres another school going, but this time several of the males look like that. Think I may dig out a 10 gallon or 2 and see what I can scoop out of the turtle tank (they are big enough that they ignore the guppies) and maybe watch a few generations..

create my own line of them or something...LOL.

That set-up is SWEET!! And I agree, those "guppies" look like endler hybrids. What a nice surprise :)
