So Saucy and I went to our uber fish store in Milwaukee tonight because I was bored and bought a couple really sweet bettas. Turns out they keep a TON of extra bettas in the back, so we got the great pick of them. I got myself another red crowntail, and she got a really cool-looking marble doubletail with blue eyes (pics soon, I promise).

After that, we stopped at the Walmart closest to the fish store (this fish store is about an hour away from my house, by the way). So we find the aquatics section and just stood there with our jaws wide open... they had a CLEAN fish section... and CLEAN betta cups... and CROWNTAILS! I mean, there were NO dead fish, NO sick fish, No dirty water... pristine!! The only strange fish was a small oscar with only one eye, but it looked like he was born that way, and he was definitely fat and happy. We wanted to find a manager to compliment them!

We ended up getting some live plants and they guy said they used to have a problem with Ich and things, but now they've gone bare-bottom on their tanks and strive for cleanliness. So... she found this AMAZING CT with black speckled fins... SO gorgeous.

We told the guy that got our plants to tell them manager we were very impressed... Needless to say, we'll be going back to that Walmart...

So here are some pictures of it...

Yes, that is a complete betta information board complete with pictures of various different types, care, and an article about them. It even says that the BARE minimum size tank you need is a half gallon! We were so impressed!

This is no joke. I'm still dumbfounded by it. Thank you Walmart in Greenfield, WI!!

Oh my God, that is just completely amazing!!! I've seen a Walmart with clean tanks before (only once,) but the displays and everything that one has are just above and beyond what I would ever have expected!
This store is a prime example of what ALL Walmarts SHOULD be able to achieve

You couldn't be more correct, this is what all walmarts should be like, if they were all this way, or even MOST this way, we wouldn't have to worry about calling and complaining etc.. when we walked up we were like :hyper: WOW! then we saw the CT's and whoa! simply amazing. I'm still stunned.

It was just so awesome! I mean... no algae, no dead fish... and I mean it. Not ONE dead fish. And they had a good layout. I especially liked the info wall: go pick out a fish and read about them at the same time. Poifect!!

We should seriously go back and take pics and send them to corporate as a standard... and then go to OUR Walmart where 5-6 tanks have Ich really bad, the water is GROSS and there are dead fish in every tank... and no one knows diddly about fish. Hmmm... sounds like a plan to me.

Mabe Bettamomma, should put this one in her report, as an example,
of how all WALMART's should take care of. In addition to telling them everything they are doing wrong. This would give them a model, of what to do.

What the heck would I do with all my time if all WalMarts looked like that? heh heh
That'd be one nice problem to have.

That's mighty impressive - I will most DEFINITELY be putting this in my report. I'm tempted to call and commend them, too. Thanks for sharing, and GOD BLESS camera phones. :)

Wow. That IS amazing. Good for them!

There is one thing that concerns me, though. You said "albino dwarf frogs," but African Dwarf Frogs don't come in albino.... They must be African Clawed Frogs, which are going to be huge. I hope they don't have that mislabeled!

Yeah, they JUST started selling the crowtails. And they're only $5.47!! Woohoo!

I think I typed that wrong, I don't remember exactly what they were labeled, but I know dwarf frogs don't come in albino. And I had 3 african clawed frogs, myself... yes, the girls get HUGE.

BettaMomma, if you'd like us to go back and take better pics, we will. :)

I think Wal-mart might be cleaning up their act. I went to Wal-mart the other day and to my surprise the tanks were pristine and they even had gravel and plants in there. I didn't see one dead fish either.

:) Such great news!! The Walmarts by me have been very clean for the past several visits now. Isn't it nice to think that maybe some of the work BettaMomma and others have done is paying off! My Walmarts have also gone to bare bottom tanks and have one small bag of gravel hanging in each one. I have not seen a dead fish in quite some time. Last time I was in I also got to meet the guy in charge of the pet department, so now if I see something wrong I know who to call and yell at. :p

that is about the first walmart that has taken good card of their fish i have ever seen!
