Is there a way to bond wood to glass? I've read that silicone can be too weak to do the job, and I'd rather not have my thought-in-progress tank burst open and spray water/fish about the room....

What I'm really worried about is if anything that would bond the two together would be safe for fishies. Anyone know anything about this?

whats the project? there might be an alternative to bonding alltogether... or perhaps the idea you have has been done and people know the outcome.....

other than that silicon can bond wood to glass for a while but unless the wood is sealed with apoxyreson its most likely the wood will break down and let go eventualy.....

i have just built a tank that is 54 x 29 x 14 cutom wall job...

the glass at the front is siliconed onto the wood and let me tell you it is not a weak bond. i can't believe how strong the bond is. also i made a frame to put round the front and then screwed that into the wooden frame. its not going anywhere

This is what I'm planning on doing.... glass walls in a wood skeleton

From your design, it seems to me that the wood is going to be in contact with the water. Is that just the picture or will that be the case?

Sorry I can't really help you out. :/

LOL, Temp, I just realized what I drew up. I'm an idiot. I can just silicone the tank together and set it in the wooden skeleton.

Sometimes I wonder what goes on in my head, if anything at all.

Thanks guys!
