Hi there!
In this topic I will cover the different stages my new aquarium will be ongoing.
I seem to be struck with a major case of MTS, this will be my third tank, being the smallest of them.

First of all, I ordered a Eheim Aquastyle 9 gallon tank. In under one week it arrived from the other coast to my place. I unboxed it and am quite impressed by the quality of the product. I just have to shop for a stand for it now.

In this tank I will be stocking lots of plants. Complemented by a nice driftwood.
I am still working on getting the tank in it's place, trying different places, will probably end up in my reading room.

I'm thinking of getting either Carbon Blue Rili, Blue Diamond, or else.
I want neocaridina as they breed well and are easy maintenance.
I'm probably going to sell some to my lfs as they overpopulate the tank.

But first, I have to cycle the thing.

Open to suggestions.

Cheers!

Nice i too have a case of MTS but luckily my wallet holds it in check, well for the most part.  i have a 10g im thinking of turning into a sump or a shrimp tank. leaning more towards the shrimp tank because the sump is really only as an experiment. keep us posted would love to see how yours goes might just be the push i need to make it into a shrimp tank.

:)
The tank is currently cycling, I took some media from one of my mature filters but was scared of taking too much so ended up just doing half media that came with the filter and half mature.
Now it's being stupid and Ammonia is slowly going down.
I'm in no rush as the longer it takes, the hotter it will be at my place so I'll be able to afford bringing some shrimp through mail! :)
I'll post pictures of aquascape I'm working on.

As this is cycling, I have started noticing my Betta having a lot of his tail missing.
Poor him! The neon tetras are eating it away!
This tank will now be my Betta's tank, once it's cycled.

I'll get some plants to help on that. Hopefully it's taken care of fast enough.

Finally got some plants for this one! Here is the first picture of the series!

Ammonia down from 3ppm to 0.25 in 3 days. Already have nitrate readingsm this is looking good. I think I'll be able to move the betta in this weekend.

Hi! here is a video of the betta!

Thank you for the comment! He looks quite happy and colors starting to appear again.
Can't wait to compare in a month.

Tested water parameters today, after 36 hours of introducing the Betta.

Ammonia: 0PPM
Nitrites: 0PPM
Nitrates: 0PPM

Sounds good to me

I'm thinking the plant mass is taking care of biological filtration

Thats a great shot of the betta.  You could probably still keep shrimp in there if you wanted.  My girl keeps ghost shrimp with hers.  If your still curious what that plant in the back corner is, I believe it to be anacharis.

YAY! Thank you :)
I'm probably going to have Cherries in there once my 20G becomes too full of them :) And I was thinking of adding some Super Tigers to my 20G ...
:)

I've not had much luck with cherries and bettas, they are just too brightly coloured for them to resist having a go. Tank looks good - love your work! Very nice betta too, and I am sure he is appreciating the new digs and will have his full glory back before you know it!

Thank you! :)
He's quite happy now indeed!
Before I moved him in his new aquarium he in fact terrorized my cherries so much that they just stopped reproducing.
Removed him from there, two weeks later, I have 3 berried shrimp, and an ungodly ammount of shrimp I did not know I had.
However, once I have a bit too many, I'll try introducing a dozen in there, see where it goes from there.
Or maybe I'll try to add some ghost shrimp instead, since they are "invisible". :p
We'll see in a few weeks.
I don't really want to add nerite snails in there because of those eggs they produce, but do want some natural way to help with algea that could build up.
