i have been running saltwater for about 3 months now and i learned of a buy that i couldnt resist. it was a fully cycled 75 gallon reef tank (minus corals  ). i had met the guy a couple of times for frags and he called me wanting to know if i wanted to buy his reef tank. and well i went and looked at it. he told me he wanted $500 for it and i bought it. i set it up about an hour ago. it is half full of his water and half full of r.o. saltwater from the lfs. i am wanting to turn it into a reef tank, so everything out of the 55 livestockwise is going into here.
here is a picture of the tank right now

and i didnt no where to put this. so here is the protean skimmer :p

the tank is 48x18x19 inches
it has a marineland 48" quad HO T5 strip light reef light with 2 daylight bulbs and 2 actinic bulbs.
the stand was homemade by him.
it has a marineland hood biowheel filter system.(minus biowheels :shifty: ) but it is mainly for waterflow
i will add a refugium in the future.
it also has 2 very large powerheads which i cannot make out the name because it is in japanese
i just tested the water and everything is awesome.
the janitor system is pretty large. it has over 100 little cornucopia shaped snails, 7 nerites, 8 turbo snail(one of which is almosed twice the size of a golf ball), a couple of other that i cannot remember the name of :p .
i have no corals in it yet although maybe tommorrow if the water checks out.
i plan to add 2 black perculla clowns to the tank, one 6 lined wrasse, 3 hermits, and a 5 lined sandsifter goby tommorrow morning.
as for inverts that arent crabs... the tank came with two medium sized peppermint shrimp which are doin fine.
( please remember that this was a fully running aquarium that had been established for nine months and all i did was move it 20 miles so im not just adding things at random i am actually test result-wise clear to add coral but just to be safe i am waiting a little bit to see if the tests change)

p.s. please comment and give me stocking ideas.

my little polyps out of my other tank are spreading.

Nice tank clay! Like the rock, but agree a couple of big mounds would look ace! Perhaps a cave? :good: Like the fish plan. black clowns are cool

how about a tang? Yellow Tang would fit nicely ?

or push the boat out with a purple tang?!

i love tangs  but i dont think that i have enough algae in the system to support one  . and here is the new set up after 3 hours of the dust settling. :hey:.

one of the pepppermint shrimp scared me half to death when i was moving rocks. i was moving a rock and he grabbed my finger. lets just say its kind of a creepy feeling.

haha! i used to hate my cleaner jumping on my hand, scared the beezers out of me!

Like the new scape! :good:

You can buy algae based foods, such as flakes, nori seaweed, etc. It's not hard to substain their algae needs honest! :)

hmmm. ok. is there any other tangs besides those two that would perhaps look a bit better than those? i like the yellow tang but i want something a little more flashy :hey: .

hmmm. Kole tang? http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/363377-kole-tang-care/

convict tang?

or Atlantic Blue?

Your semi-limitted in a 75g, but those are your 4 options!! :)
