I've purchased an Aqua One AR510 tank (silver with 75 litre capacity). I'm now in the process of adding fish. Could you please advise what species would be suitable and ideal for a tank of this capacity, and how many? I'm not particularly fussed whether it's either from the semi-aggressive or peaceful variety. I'm predicting there's only 65 litres available after taking decor into consideration. Decor includes: a mixture of coarse and fine brown/black substrate, combination of artificial/real plants and some rocks. I'm enjoying it immensely! I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but I'm already anticipating adding either a 90 litre or 155 litre tank as things progress, to supplement my new hobby with more variety and larger specimens. :look:

Appreciate any replies and really look forward to sharing/posting alot more in future! Cheers.

you gotta have corydoras in there. there sooooooo cute.... my fav is the peppered. but if you do so please have 6 or more. they do better in groups.

platties, swords, dwarf gouramies, honey gouramies, guppies (dont worry bout teh babies... tehy make good food for teh bigger ones),,,.... flying fox algea eater... pakistani loaches.... you can have clown loaches but be careful they get big.

just some ideas for you to think about.

If they are your first fish they I would go for some of the hardier species.

Thats about 20 Gallons so I would go for something like:
4 Cory's (make sure you get ones that are all the same colour/type)
6 Glowlight or Silver Tip Tetras (these sometimes don't look like much in the shop but once they get bigger and come into their full colour they are very pretty).
6 Neon Tetra's

Or take out either of the tetra groups and get 6 zebra danios.

look at malawi cichlids. some nice colourful fish :) and the tank size is decent for it too!

Thanks for the replies. Some nice examples there.

xxBarneyxx, this might seem a silly question, but all those species you mentioned are okay to populate the tank collectively right? (over time of course).

A friend of mine is willing to take the AR510 off my hands so I can afford/upgrade to the 90 litre tank - so I'm up for ideas for that too. Or, since I'm a beginner, should I just stick with my current aquarium and progress from there?

Yeah the two groups of 6 (tetras or danios) and 4 cory's would be fine together.

If you can get a bigger tank then go for it. Bigger tanks are easier to keep then smaller ones.
