I used to have a 120 gallon aquarium where I had a tiger oscar for several years, I woke up one morning and he was floating at the top of the tank. Nothing seemed to be wrong with him and my water stats were fine.

I sold my tank awhile ago because he was my buddy and I didn't want to look at an empty tank. :[[

Since then I have been thinking about buying a new tank.

There is a tank in the paper for $100, a 75 gallon with a nice wooden stand and canopy.

I was wondering if you think a 75 gallon is big enough for an oscar, or if I should just wait awhile and wait until I come across a bigger tank in the paper?

What do you guys think?

I haven't been on this forum in forever!

yes just check the size of it is correct :good:
good luck with it, oscars are brilliant<as you know> if you can go bigger then go bigger :good:
I really would like to go bigger, but right now I have the money to buy the tank and I am scared if I wait I'll either never find a cheap bigger tank or I won't have the money you know?

Oscars are hands down my favorite fish of all times.

They are amazing. :D

Yeah 75 would be the minimum but it is fine, I love oscars as well. Unfortuately I don't have a large enough tank :(. But good luck with your's

I think it is big enough for one oscar but nothing else. He should be just fine and happy in there.

75 gallon is a nice tank for a lone oscar. You could probably have a tank mate such as a catfish or a birchir.

i always thought a 55gal tank was the minimum an oscar would be happy in but suppose if you can get that 75gal tank then go for it

In reality it depends on the dimensions, but as the others have said 75USG is fully adequate for a Lone Oscar and something along the lines of a bottom feeder or oddball

yup agree with the above, room for 1 oscar and maybe a bottom feeder or two depending on filtration!

I have kept my oscar in a 55 gallon temporarily and there is nooo way a 55 gallon is big enough for a full grown oscar haha. he hated it in there!

But I do think maybe the 75 gallon would be enough room.
