72 Gallons, What Shall I Put In It?

I am saying you could keep the lungfish for a few years, and it could live with things greater than or equal to the size of a congo tetra. A royal knife would get too big. You could keep an african knife, a mottled, brown or black ghost. Never mix two ghost knives or an african with a ghost. Their electrical currents will meet and they will fight. A good community oddball tank would be with plants and caves and 2 indo dats, 2 polypterus endlicheri's and/or 2 polypterus delhizi's, an african knife and a tire track eel. As for feeding the bichirs, dats, and knife will eat most foods that can fit in their mouths. And the eel will eat earthworms and possibly frozen foods.

Yes, they are legal in MD.

EDIT:
oh.. 350 gph is not enough filtration? it is made for 175 gallon tanks.. confused.gif that is 2.4 times the needed filtration. I can always add another one.
Many filters labeled for for "up to this size aquarium" are not that high. A rena XP3 is no where near enough for a 175 gallon aquarium. Close for a 72 gallon 4 Red Belly Piranha tank, but you will still need an additional quality HOB, small canister, or the highest GPH internal.

:/ they will all go together huh? anything else I could add in with them?

Any idea if those fish will eat home made gel food? I make it for my goldfish and it is made up of 1/2 cup of peas, carrot, banana, 3 cases of anchovies.

ugh.. community tank of odd balls or piranhas...

Also, these are the fish you are revering to right Jox. am I missing anything?

One of these

http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Knife,6.jpg (now this makes me wonder.. I see goldfish.. I wonder if he would like mine.. ph is 7.6 though)

ALso, I have a tetra 60 (it is some where in my house) it does alot of water... I can make the incase take from a pipe that is takign form the other side of the tank.

and hey.. thanks guys for all the advice. I am very paranoid about taking any paths because once I start I must follow threw. Kind of like those goldfish in my room. soon, threw stuffing, they will be big and fat and sellable. :/

but still piranha's or the oddball tank. is the oddball tank things able to be added with piranhas? haha

also, how long would it take a lungfish to get huge?

could I keep multiply african knifes? :/

hey you said i need more filtration but you talk about a HOB filter.. how come? another canister filter will not do? I was thinking of adding another Rena and having the spray bars places in a vertical potistion to make a current. and somethgin to place O2 in as well.. I am thinking EHEIM Professional Wet/Dry Canister Filter.

yes or no? :/

I was suggesting a HOB in addition to the XP3. Two canisters would be great, but one canister plus a HOB should be enough. If you want to spend extra $ for the two canisters go ahead but it probably be a bit overkill compared to a single canister plus HOB.

I heard that the Eheim Professional Wet/Dry Canister Filter was very very good. What type of GPH does it have?

less then the Rena.. and it cost 2.5 times as much. :/ mm.. will the single rena and a tetra 60 HOB make enough current? and what about co2 injection.. would that mess with them at all? I know they need o2.. :/ alot yes? like.. power failure = no bubble machine = death.

Yes, the Rena XP3 plus the Tetra Whisper 60 should be enough filtration. C02 injection will not disturb them at all (unless of course there is above 30 ppm which is not only bad for piranhas but fo all fish). Piranhas do not need excessive amounts of oxygen, and will be fine during a power failure. They have adapted to fast flowing high 02 rivers, but they are very hardy, so a power failure should not be a problem.

:/ this is a bad question but any tank mates?

and which would be easier. the knife fish and birchir tank or 4 red bellies? :/ I think if I get piranhas I will sjtu get another Rena. That one HOB is veyr noise and this tank is in my bed room. :X

mm... they would rock because I could have 4 red bellies.. but then suck because nothign else... -taps chin- plus another filter would be needed where as if it was goldfish fancies it would be fine as is... still curious about those knife fish. only one per tank thoguh it seems.

ugh & blah. :X so hard to make up mind. got any videos/pictures of your piranhas?

I dont have any videos, but my signature is a photo of two Serraslmus geryi piranhas. There are some photos of piranhas in their profiles that I wrote in the index.

EDIT: Look for the piranha profiles under the characin section in the fish index.

If you are concerned about feeding the only fish that I suggested that wont eat most prepared fish foods is the eel. Mine only eats live foods. I dont know about the goldfish but you should keep the ph around 7.0. Here are some better pics.
