Sorry to hear about your fish, neons are a little sensitive and I have lost a few to in the past for unknown reasons. I am thinking of going with cardinal tetras in the future.

A few possible reasons:
1)Aggressive fish fighting/ killing each other

2)There are diseases in the tank.
Most common disease will be parasites infection.
Did you observe any fish die before your vacation? Or any symptoms of disease earlier?

When I was on vacation a couple of days ago and the power went out but thankfully it wasnt for long and all of my fish were fine. I have alot of aeration on my tanks which probably helped.

I did not have any deaths before I left

Kribensis, sparkling gourami, honey Gourami, peacock gudgeons. That’s about it.
