7 Foot Tank, But Slightly Chipped

Sounds like a massive tank to be taking on! Moving all those fish is not going to be fun either :( I'm not jealous... honestly ;)

Good luck! :good:

LOL, i dont think its gonna happen, mostly because i cant tell if my windows will come out (or one window), i could try and find out tomorrow i guess. Then there's the small matter of arranging a van and help by Saturday!!!

Then the small matter of moving my x2 Rio 300's which are full of fish out the way in the lounge, then the small matter of selling the x2 Rio 300's the make the cash back and get space in the flat, and in between there's the small matter of deciding what fish from all this including the ones i already got i want to keep, the small matter of moving the others on, and the small matter of deciding what set up to actually have in the 90 incher

Madness, possibly still only a 20% i'll try it, need to decide in next 24 hrs.

But for £300 its a 90x22x24, wooden lid, custom made metal stand, Eheim 2217, Eheim Pro 2028 and £££ worth of fish, whether i keep them or not

Can you imagine if i got the tank but couldnt get the windows open, i'd have to smash them, then get them repaired :hyper:

EDIT: i dont mean this to all be a big tease, you guys input has been helpful and it will go towards helping to weigh up whether to do it or not

Be aware mate, that this tank will be very heavy, heavier than you could imagine. I recently picked up 7X2X2 from Stafford (I'm jct2 M25) (see other thread). Arranged a hire van that cost £60, ended up with a Luton high top, plenty of room but juicy, dont even talk to me about the £90 in diesel haha.

There were 4 of us to lift onto the van, it was so heavy we struggled to lift it off the cabinet. We counted to 5 and just lifted it, non-stop through an alley onto the van. I dont recall any of the lifting, it was just pure adrenalin that took over. Had cuts on the elbows from squeezing down the alley. Once you lift it, there is no putting it down until on the van.

Luckily when we got back to my end, the van had a tail lift so 2 of us were able to steady one end whilst the other lowered the lift. We lowerered it onto the laminate flooring in the house and dragged it.

Took 5 of us to lift back onto the cabinet.

Would reccomend no less than 6 people for this, otherwise you will struggle.

thanks for that i was planning to use 3 of us :hyper: i think i need to knock this on the head as tempting as it is, although there is a company on ebay that move tanks, but it will cost a fortune, it would probably be cheaper to get one made on site LOL

can you give me the link to your thread?

and this tank is even bigger than a 7x2x2 as its 7.5 foot

The guy who has the tank now reckons 2 BIG blokes carried it in, i means it 12ml glass and double based, do you think thats BS then?

transit has a 95" length of load space for those interested, thats 1" shy of 8-foot

As much as its a good deal, I think you're right to knock it on the head. Theres too much time pressure involved and a lot of hassle. As you say, you could probably get one made for a little more money but a lot less effort.

Maybe offer the guy some money for some of the fish/filters without the tank ;)

i think you right, imagine all the stress, its typical me, but you can see why i was tempted, but if i want to go in the "big tank" route i should really do some firm planning, after all thats half the fun, working out what you want, just need patience!!! thanks for input

Paid £350 + 90 fuel and 60 van hire and a couple of quid on mars bars for the 2 helpers that came with me.

My tank is 10mm + Double based, weir in corner (barsteward sie for me to plumb, but just done it today lol), large brace weir end, centre brace and brace at other end, all 10mm.

If your talking 12mm, then I really do think you will struggle with 3 bods.

I tried that guy who does the tank moving, he works out v expensive, he will have to bring helpers which whacks the price right up.

The guy I got mine from originally wanted £500, but I pulled out so he said he would let me have for £350.

You could try a bit more bartering and then get some £20 helpers.
