After a nasty bout with ich I have decieded to redesign my tank. For those that are interested I lost my rams, one danio, two otos, and also 2 neons to the blasted white spot.

I pulled out most of the fake plants and have added two more real ones as I am tired of the fake look. Also added a really nice large piece of drift wood and quite a bit of stone.

Before

After

Will let the water settle and add the fish back.

The list as of right now is
3 head and tail light tetras
2 bloodfin tetras
4 hatchets
2 danios
4 albino cories
2 oto's
and 8 ghost shrimp.
I will be making a few trip to the lfs to round out my schools again.

well that tank looks very nice good job, and sorry to hear about the fish.

Btw I think this belongs in "Members Aquarium and Fish Pictures"

I thought that it might belong there. If it does will a mod please move it.

Hi. Ya it does look better; i think the driftwood makes the biggest difference. The small rounded stones and the (sand?) substrate look nice too.

Excuse me but i believe this belongs in the picture section

I just want to make sure that you know that the schooling fish should be in a school of at least five, preferably 6-8. The otos also like to be in a group of three or more. All your fish, pretty much, would appreciate numbers of at least 5 or more. The fish sound fine as far as compatability is concerned, but I would build schools of one species first and then move on to the next school, rather than have a mishmash of different species at one. In addition, this is just my opinion, you can take it or leave it, but I personally find it far more impressive when there are fewer species but greater numbers. The tank would look smashing with say, 12 each of two or three species, rather than five each of a lot of species. The fish also school better and look really cool.

Another word of caution, danios swim fast and are active. I'd watch them with other surface dwelling fish, especially the hatchet fish. Also, both species are jumping beans, make sure the tank is covered.

Now, I will stop griping like a grump and say that your tank appearence has definitely improved. I like the new look a lot! Great job. It's perfect for the faster tetras, danios, and corydoras. Have fun!

Not sure if you read the text of my first post, but I will be rounding out the schools as I lost a few to ich. My final plan is to re-introduce 5+ neons, 2 more head and tail lights, 3 otos, 3 danios, and maybe another cory.
The ich took its toll, but i saved my cories, hatchets, and 2 otos from it, and they were supposed to be the most fragile fish I have.
Also will be planting the tank more heavily with some low light plants.

I wont be over stoked with these counts will I?
5 ht light tetras
2 blood fins (really dont like them but they were given to me)
4 hatchets
5 danios
5 neons
5 cories
2 rams
3 otos
and my shrimp will I?

New tank is a great improvement - more hiding places etc for fish. Great job.

Might look a tad better with a few more plant in.
