I should have gone with a 400 watt. The 250 doesnt seem to be doing well at the edges of the tank. I wont be able to get as much light on the dual pillars as i hoped i could, so i have less of an SPS opportunity.
thanks, picked it up for 20 bucks at my LFS, healthy as a.... healthy urchin i guess. Came with the free frag on its back. Its moving about now (lights are out). It adjusted very well after about 2-3 hours of acclimating (had to change the salinity by .003, took no chances with a delicate creature like this). Its eating algae and pushing frags off the main rock structure already. Looking good
Precisely why I dont have one, but you can see just by looking at it why I've always wanted one. I wouldnt buy one from my LFS just because her tanks are always full of urchin skeletons I dont think she really knows how to acclimate urchins/nems/starfish despite comments I've made. Oh well. What do you have planned next?
Well so far mine has munched on a lot of hair algae (made a "path" in the grassy rock), and i hear they eat coralline. They pretty much eat any to most algae (i hear)....
