I should have gone with a 400 watt. The 250 doesnt seem to be doing well at the edges of the tank. I wont be able to get as much light on the dual pillars as i hoped i could, so i have less of an SPS opportunity.

Long time no update, anyway, i added an urchin to the tank..... well thats about it lol

thanks, picked it up for 20 bucks at my LFS, healthy as a.... healthy urchin i guess. Came with the free frag on its back. Its moving about now (lights are out). It adjusted very well after about 2-3 hours of acclimating (had to change the salinity by .003, took no chances with a delicate creature like this). Its eating algae and pushing frags off the main rock structure already. Looking good :)

Precisely why I dont have one, but you can see just by looking at it why I've always wanted one. I wouldnt buy one from my LFS just because her tanks are always full of urchin skeletons :/ I dont think she really knows how to acclimate urchins/nems/starfish despite comments I've made. Oh well. What do you have planned next?

brittle starfish... then i guess just frags and some fish (probably banggai cardinals first)

hmmm an urchin. Interesting. Will they keep your tank clean as far as coraline? What algea do they eat?

Thanks, KJ

Well so far mine has munched on a lot of hair algae (made a "path" in the grassy rock), and i hear they eat coralline. They pretty much eat any to most algae (i hear)....

Some dry skimmate pictures taken from my Euro-reef RS-80 (the 5-3 wouldnt fit)
