64L Stocking Idea

I know how difficult all this can be, OP.

Lets get back to basics, see if that makes things easier!

Is your water hard or soft? From how far away will you mostly be viewing the tank? Is there one fish on your list that your particularly keen on?

Not sure on water ph, awaiting a ph test kit to be delivered, although I think it's relatively hard as I get a white build up on the plastic tray under the lid. My lad has specified that he wants a betta and some catfish (corys) The tank is situated right next to a sofa but in the corner of the lounge so further for others to view (I made sure it was next to my sofa :lol: )

I've never known a cherry barb nip anything. I'm sure they'd be quite safe with a betta.
+1

I have 10 Cherry Barbs myself and they are pretty chill. They keep to their group, love to hide in my plants and make a lovely addition to the tank. Especially the males as they are very bright red.

Ok, in that case, I would go for something like;

six cories, of your choice, but avoid the larger ones, like bronzes, and go for something like pandas, or even 10 of one of the dwarf/pygmy species.
six cherry barbs or rasboras; many tetras can be nippy in smaller shoals; even the 'peaceful ones', like neons and cardinals,although embers would be alright.
you betta

Plant it up nicely and have a blue betta with the red/copper shoalers and it would look lovely.

Right so it's defo 6 cories and a nice colourful betta but I already have 3 black neon tetras, so will need to go with tetras until I can convince my wife to let me get another tank :hey:

Plant wise I currently have 3 live plants and a piece of bogwood with a plant growng on it. No idea of the plant variety though so don't ask :lol:

Ah, I'd just get more black neons then. They'll look much better in a larger shoal anyway :good:

Glad you've got it worked out PS :) Yep that's my betta, I had to order him online because I don't have a very nice selection of bettas locally. :good:
