Both the numbers you gave for GH are too low for the Platies. They need GH of 10-20dh.

My tap water is roughly 15gh/8.2ph but due to the driftwood in the 60, it lowers the ph and gh. If I move the platies out of the 60, they should be just fine.

Yes if they're in a tank with GH at 15.
