Hi All,

I want to set up a 5'x2'x2' Tank.
I do what lots of plants.

I'm after some ideas on what type of Filter, Substrate, Lights ect to buy.

Thanks Shane

If you take a look in the planted section of the forum there's some pinned topics at the top. They will tell you things you'll need, like lighting, CO2 (if you're wanting real nice plants) etc.

Are you wanting a high-tec planted tank? Or just a couple of plants that will grow with normal lights?

Hi Voo,

I after a fairly dense planting, if that can be done with normal lights.

Cheers,
Shane

As voo said, the planted forum is the best place for advice on densely planted tanks.

however, given the size of your tank I believe that 5'x2'x2' equates to about 565 litres or 124 UK gallons or 150 US gallons - and thats pretty big.

in order to grow a densely planted tank IMO you need a minimum of 3 WPG (watts of light per US gallon) and many would say more - that equates to over 450watts of light - thats quite a bit.

look here for a basic guide to lighting:
