Well if this was a suggestion for the 5 gallon, id say i have to disagree with i( if not disregard this post).From what i've read they need at least a 10 gallon tank, due to their behavior as the dominant male will often murder his tankmates in smaller tanks.

Males set up territories  i believe, and they need at least 10 gallon to to have that. Like gouramis, if there not able to set up  multiple territories then they'll most likely fight.
