Finally got my 55g going over the weekend. Here's what's in it:

Black Convict
Red Terror
Red Devil
Firemouth
Jack Dempsey
Pacu
Oscar

My Terror changing colors. He's normally red with black stripes. When he's stressed he's a solid grey almost.

Yes, that's Spiderman saving the day.

nice tank i noticed a kids car in there dont them cars have a metal wire to hold the wheels in place??? and if yes u better remove it as i will rust

Jesus what is it with people massively overstocking their tanks with big aggressive Cichlids at the moment?

Oh well, thats another 7 dead Cichlids coming up, enjoy them while you can :(

crap, disgusting, alful, tasteless are just some of the words that pop into my head veiwing your tank

and why is there a bottle in there....

We all had to start somewhere, this is his first post, take it easy on him guys. Obviously he picked these fish because of their aggresiveness, just give him some proper advice, get him to do some research, and I'm sure he'll see the error of his ways.

and guess what the lable is still on the bottle, lables have glue on it to stick to the bottle
ur tank is nice but in short its a death trap

remove all the kids stuff in from it add more plants and remove some of the aggressive fish and u will be fine

oh yeah welcome to the forum

Also, pacus need to be in groups and the minimum size tank for an oscar is a 75 G, as they're messy fish and they get up to 14".

Well I don't know much about cichlids so I can't comment, but what the heck is a pacu doing in there? You don't keep them unless you have HUGE tanks.

i was pretty shocked too when i saw the list of the tank ihabitants, but take it easy people...don't bite his head off, i know if when i first started and if someone at the lfs told me that would be fine i'd do it--i wouldn't have known better at the time, of course now i'm cringing thinking of what's going to happen later on. as for the tank decor, to each his own. just because you don't personnally like it, it's no reason to call it crap.

but seriously vibrant, i'd start looking at how to rehouse some of those cichlids, they're going to grow way too big for that tank and kill each other.

Have you seen your avatar and sig?

What was I thinking I should have done a boring tank. I've had a tank for the last 10 years and had all of these before. Death trap? Maybe, whoever makes it, makes it.

That bottle has been in a tank since 1995.

The kid stuff in the tank is my 5 year old son's. I needed to make it fun for him too. The car is part of my sons lego set, no metal.

Oh, For those with the negative remarks. I won't be losing sleep over your opinion.

Gosh, what were the other members thinking for trying to let you know that you're essentially killing the majority of those fish by housing them together in a tank that is too small?? I guess we all (wrongly) assumed that you might actually give a hoot about what happens to the living beings that are under your care.
"Whoever makes it, makes it."?? With that attitude, you ought not be allowed to own animals at all, in my opinion. Those fish are your responsibility to take care of, and I find it deplorable that you're not man enough to step up to the plate and admit you are wrong to house them the way you are currently housing them.

As for the tank itself, I rather like it!
A little whimsy never hurt anyone... as long as you're careful about putting things that might be harmful to the fish in there. I was going to say that you should add more plants so the fish will have places to hide from one-another, but you would apparently rather have them just fight to the death anyway. No sense in wasting words.

What an opportune time for this thread to... "float to the surface," shall we say
I'd encourage you to take a look at it, VibrantRedGT. How fun is the tank going to be for your son when one of your lovely fish ends up looking like that?

This is the exact reason threads like those were made. To warn people of the consequences. If your attitude is "Whoever makes it, makes it...", then my advice for you is to leave TTF because that is SIMPLY the wrong attitude to have. We're here to help you to choose what fish to get, and whether it's going to be compatible or not.

If you refuse to follow more experienced hobbyist's advice, then there is nothing more to add except your attitude HAS to change, especially if you want to continue keeping fish, because there's nothing any of us can do and all you'll be doing is sending your fish to an early demise. Especially as an adult with a kid, what a way to set an example, huh. :/ Would you keep a few vicious dogs together, and say the same thing? Then why is it any different with fish?

I read that thread and yes it sucks. I realize my mix isn't the smartest but that's what I like. As for my son, this tank has made him realize about survival. May sound kinda dumb but the questions he asks while we watch them feed is really cool. He thinks most things are free and everyone in the World gets along to a point. He understands that one of his pets may get hurt. Up to now everyone is doing great. There has been a few struggles with establishing the ruler but it's unclear as of now. I had the same fish in my last tank and everyone was accounted for 6 years later. I sold them when I moved.

Well that's it I guess. I'll move on to my Mustang Forums where I'm a moderator. I'm sure I'll be missed here.
