ok, for christmas i finally got what ive been dreaming about, a 55 gallon.

we know the house can support it so no worrys.

heres the prob, my dad said i cant keep both tanks, so the 20 has to be disassembled.

should i keep the current fish and modify the stocking or trade them in for the fish i want?

here was the old stocking for the 55.
1 H. temporalis
8 sterbai
6 M. bosemani
6 G. insicus
1 stipped raphael catfish

here is what i have in the 20
2 oto
5 P. semifaciolatus
5 M. praecox
2 balloon mollys
1 stripped raphael catfish

the raph is 100% being transferred, so no problems there.
the otos most likely will get eaten if i move them, so i guess ill move them and have them for survival of the fittest.
the barbs and rainbows and mollys is what i have probs with. so what should i do?

yes im getting another filter to cope with boload, and ill be running the 20 gal. filter alongside the 55 gal. filter with the catfish as the first inhabitant.

ill also be moving my 3 amazon swords and what remains of my moneywort, ill be needing advise on tall plants to get etc.

the move will be a few days off from now so there is time to delibarate. ill get pics asap (maybe not today though)

Its up to you what you do with your stocking list. Asking us were just going to tell you what we want which more then likely wont be what you want. Why dont you do a little research and make a stocking list then post it and we can let you know if it will work or not. As far as the otos go if you think there going to be eating trade them in dont just throw them in there and say survival of the fittest thats just animal cruelty. Would you want to be thrown in a cell with a bunch or killers and have the guard say well this will be survival of the fittest. Thats what you would be doing with the otos.

You'll get the peace of mind knowing you didnt throw them to the wolves! Can't comment on the stock dont have any experience with them but I'm sure someone who does will be along soon.

yeah, though techniqually there arent any savage beasts in there, just the fact the raph gets a little bulky and they tend eat 2" fish, which i just remembered i have to get rid of the M. praecox since they only get 2"

new list comin soon!

ok heres the new list considering M.preacox gets only 2" and therfore in possible danger of being eaten

1 H. temporalis
6 sterbai
5 M. bosemani
5 G. insicus
5 P. semifaciolatus
2 balloon mollys
1 stripped raphael catfish

just to confirm, thr are two possible stockings, one is if some one can prove M. praecox gets bigger than 2.5" and the other is if they cant.

1 H. temporalis
6 sterbai
6 M. bosemani
5 P. semifaciolatus
5 M. praecox
2 balloon mollys
1 stripped raphael catfish

or

1 H. temporalis
6 sterbai
5 M. bosemani
5 G. insicus
5 P. semifaciolatus
2 balloon mollys
1 stripped raphael catfish

As for tank mates mine is with senegal birchir/pictus/plec/silver sharks/silver dollar/channa pluero/hoplo catfish...

I would like to have your tank with, depending on measurments ofcourse...

1 temporalis
4 hoplo catfish
10-12 colombian tetra
then maybe a festivum...
