I have wanted an axolotl ever since I saw someone post a picture of one on here years ago.

I saw a few at my lfs last year and now that I have a new 55 gallon, I was wondering if it would be a suitable home for one.

I have been researching them and I have seen things like a 10 gallon is okay for one.

But that seems horribly incorrect to me.

I would assume they would need a larger tank and lots of space to roam around and hide and explore.

I have large river rocks as the substrate and the temperature is right about 70.

I am thinking about throwing a bunch of live rocks in there and maybe some sort of cave made from driftwood.

what do you think?

ive always heard you shouldnt keep axxies with fish, but ive never had any experience with them, if it was just a 55g specimen tank just for the axxies then i think they would love it, and you could keep more than one, id just read up on it and do some research before diving in, thats all i can say, like i said though ive never kept them so dont take what i say as gospel truth ;)

you are right fozziebear not to be kept with fish
everything looks fine to me and yes size is not a big thing for them they dont do alot of moving around they are different to fish when it comes to tank sizing
