My stand for my new 55 gallon gets here today so it’s finally time to get the tank up and going , I’m still trying to figure out exactly how I wana stock it.

I currently only have 2 red zebras , I’m thinking of getting 2 or 3 bumblebee cichlids , maybe 2-3 acei, and maybe some Rusty’s?

I’m completely new to keeping cichlids , so I wana get started right with a good stocking.

If this is wrong and gonna just be a blood bath let me know

Do you know your water hardness (GH) and pH?

pH is usually 7.5-8.0
I haven’t tested my tank since I’ve moved into our new place and the water is a bit softer here (😂) Utah has awfully hard water. but looking on like it looks like around 300ppm

it's gonna be a blood bath, blood bath, blood bath.
it's gonna be a blood bath just like every mbuna tank.

the 3 later species would probably be ok but anything with zebra in its name is a problem fish.

Kribensis, Apisto and German Rams they all end up in their own territory. Big fan
Are you saying you kept all three species in the same tank without significant violence?

Yes they have their own homes and territories. A little jousting for time to time Heavy planted and dither fish keep everyone busy. It’s a 3 pair fun fest

I think you should add a bunch of girl zebras, and have a species only colony. Make sure you have a lot of rock work for everyone to find their own space, and that way some babies will survive.
