50 Watt Heater Question

i just purchased a proquatic Hydromatic 50 watt heater off ebay for next to nothing.. i bought it for a 2.5 gallon tank for my betta do you think this heater will suffice? im not sure how the watts work.. can this heater get this tank up to a nice warm temp?

It should be OK, I have a 50 watt heater that says it can heat up to 60 litres (about 15 gallons?) so I think it's probably enough.

the general rule (although im not convinced on its accuracy) is 1 watt per litre. so 50w should be more than enough.

Think the only reason people really recommend 1 watt per litre is if the heater was to go faulty they tend to stay on and if it's more watts then needed the water would heat a lot faster, giving you no time to notice.

I personally run a 50watt heater in a 11L hospital tank with no problems but keep an eye on the temp

Edit: of course it needs to be enough watts to be able to heat the amount of water, kind of got myself in a pickle this post and been drinking so yeah

Yes be very careful with a 50w in a small tank, if they get stuck on it will cook the fish in a matter of hours
