I got a tetra APS100 air pump, it says it's for aquariums between 50-100 litre. I have it in a 50 litre tank now but would like to move it to my main 120litre.

What is the problem with doing this? Will the motor just run harder or do I risk popping connections?

No it won't cause a problem like burning out a motor if you are using it with a normal airstone, the tank size is there as an indication of the power of the pump. In my experience I normally go for a pump just below the size of my tank as I find it keeps noise down :) what are you planning to do with the pump? Aeration or filtration?

Cheers, that's what I wanted to hear, I can use it so

I've a fluval U3 filter that should provide enough filtration & aeration on it's own, I'm just thinking of adding the airstone as decoration.

Thanks for your replies.

Are you using the venturi valve (I think thats how its spelt) on the U3?

Yep, I'm using the venturi valve, it's supposed to add enough aeration so I've read.

lol at your username, I bought 12 NeonTetras today :)
