5 Planted Tanks

I'm envious of that Cabomba! Mine sadly withered away after a few days

The 40G is looking really great too. Even better with fish :hey:

In my experience it appreciates direct light. No floating plants over it and not too far from the light source either. Sometimes it just melts away. I tried it about a year ago and it didn't do that well. I have a slightly stronger light now, and I guess that might have made all the difference.

I'm thinking a nice shoal of Odessa Barbs would look great in the 40g once its ready.

They would look great. I'm fond of many of the species of Pethia and they do make for lively and beautiful schools. Odessas (Pethia padamya) are very beautiful and VERY active. I currently have a small school of Pethia setnai, which are a bit more sedate, in a 75g which I am looking to expand. Add to that, Pethia are generally very hardy and long lived.

I have heard they can live upwards of 6 years. Is that accurate?

Anacharis really likes to send out roots along the stem, and refuses to grow straight.
I cut the cabomba pretty short because its been growing very well.
When pruning Cabomba, its best to just the top to the size you want and dispose of the bottom. It won't send out new shoots.

I am pretty disappointed in how tall the dwarf sag is getting. I may have to pull it and plabt Pygmy chain swords instead.
The ludwigia is growing pretty good. I have some brown hair algae forming on the wood, so I am going to cut back on the light intensity.

Ready for its first inhabitants. I have some Bloody Mary Cherry Shrimp on the way. I found a guy on ebay selling them who lives just 5 miles from me. We are having some warmer weather this week, so it won't be an issue.
