Right, so I've got a cycled 5 (us) gallon tank which currently supports 2 ottos, 4 plants and some snails..

It's on my desk - and I really want an oddball type of fish that will be generally awesome and active and all that.. and I think I've settled on either dwarf puffers or a figure-8 puffer.

The guys in my LFS said i could keep 6 DP's or 2 F8's in my tank, but after researching it on here I don't want - I think maybe 2DP's (I do strict water changes etc etc) or 1 F8.

Only thing is - I have gravel - does this matter?
How can I make caves for my 5 gal? It is quite tall and has a small-ish footprint, I'm thinking about taking out my chinese bridge decoration, and replacing it with a few more plants and a couple of caves - made of stones... Has anyone got any hints or ideas on what to do or how to do this?

And would a figure of 8 puffer by okay in a 5gal?

Thanks very much! So excited - whatever I get, one of them is going to be called Godzilla! haha :good:

to small for F8's .

and 6 !!!! never go back their again!!!

two DP's would be too much go for one. its not waste its the confined space.

some good decs and plants will be good, and sand is better but gravel will be okay.

I'm just worried that 1 DP may get lost in my tank :S

okay - if I have one, will he still need places to hide, or can I just use a couple of small pots I have lying around and half sumerge them in the gravel?

and the one Dp will be alright with the 2 ottos?

personally i would up the ottos to 4 as they are shoaling fish, and make sure your filtration is good! atleast 2X the volume of your tank turned over every hour!

he wont feel lost, he will feel happy!

My 2 DP's are just looking great in a 20gal cube :hyper:

Go for 1 DP, plant it nicely, and give it lots too do!

they are superb fish!

good luck :good:

lots to do?

like an xbox? :p

I might get some bogwood / rock with lots of holes or something in it - they can play and hide in it! Like a hollow log decoration thing.. sound good?

yes, sounds good!

my little puffer will occasionaly chase the big one, and vice versa, so they need a good amount of cover!

My puffers love to swim through, and hide in grasses and really soft fern plants. ;)

Bogwood sounds great, they really will explore!

I was taking out a plant and splitting it into 2, because they both wanted it as "their piece of turf" lol

So as i pulled it out, my friendliest puffer, watched it leave the water lol! and when i put it back in, split into 2, he was like... hmmmmm

now they both have their own piece :D
